For this and this only do i salute him.
But in some cases, being an asshole can turn out some great music, IE R Kelly, Al Green (pre grits incident), Mike Jack, and good ole trigger happy James Brown. We'll keep Bobby and Whitney out of this discussion for now. They're on a whole nother level in terms of being dysfunctional.

Bruce Ruffin. Yeah, rather unheard of to me as well, but dude penned a BUNCH of classic Jamaican/Reggae inspired joints and enjoyed a good amount of success in the late 60's, early 70's. Give it a spin and I think you'll find some gems in here, and who he's influenced musically in the years after his career was at its peak.

One of the most slept on releases of 2000. Flipmodes 1st and only female MC rises to the top of the genre with a disc that headz and radio should've loved. The rhymes are tight, the beats are hot and her delivery is straight on fire.
If you're one of the ones who claims female MC's dont do it for me, give this a listen and try saying that again.
Her long overdue 2nd album "Everything is a Story" has been sitting on the shelves for 3 years courtsey of J Records. She has since left the label due to 'artistic differences'. Some of those tracks have leaked, "Party and Bullshit '03", "Hot Tub" F/t Snoop Dog, "On the Move" f/t Mary J. Blige.
